who i aspire to be (like)

ok, so this here is the beginning of what i hope will be a semiregular window into my head, work and peculiar grammatical hangups that are, in aggregate, my life.  and in order to challenge myself to rise to something other than medicraty, i will mention here that the guy i want to emulate as closely as possible (even though i don’t know anyone who can touch his capacity for brilliance or his work ethic) is this guy here… Max.

apologies in advance, my friend.  you totally rock, and so does your blog.  and i hope that i can perhaps snag a bit of your brilliance for this dalliance.

if i could be half as cool as max, i’d be twice as cool.  do that math.

on tracking

it’s been 2 years, almost, since i last tracked a record.  in that time i totally forgot how much fun it was.  we spent 2 weeks at www.sonicranch.com recording the basis for what will be the next MercyMe album.  by we, i mean myself, the band, and co-producers Brown Bannister and Dan Muckala.  a good time was had by all, i learned/remembered a lot (which i will share here, watch this space) and it turns out i’m actually pretty damn good at recording, too.  which was nice becuase i was freaking out about it before i went.

when life gives you lemons…

cliche, i know, but hey, i’ve spent the last week with the swine flu.  not recommended.  managed to knock out a Robert Randolph track with the inestimable funk brothers Drew & Shannon between bouts of feeling like i was gonna die.  i’m sure i would have enjoyed the song a lot more if i was 100% conscious.
